Have already got the black velvet version, so went for the more casual denim in the sale. I have hips which are 2 sizes larger than my waist, so the waist on skirts or trousers always need darting at the back - although the waist on this skirt is particularly big, so have gone for darts at front too on this one. The skirt has a decent quality fabric with a little stretch, and the long length is perfect, just below the knee on my shortish legs.

I got this in denim in the sale - what a bargain! I love it as it's quite the most flattering and versatile skirt I've ever had. I'm quite curvy and normally find the waist is way too big and thighs much too tight on Boden trousers, skirts are a bit better but still have the gappy waist problem, but this design is much better than usual. It's comfortable and incredibly versatile - great with tights and boots for winter/spring but I'm looking forward to wearing it with sandals soon (I hope!)

This is a great fitting pencil skirt with just the right amount of stretch to make it so comfortable and extremely well fitting...I ordered the 10L as I wanted a more 1940s look and the length was just perfect for my 5'4 height.It's beautifully lined and finished off so well that I am sure it will last for ages.I loved it so much I ordered another..both velvet which is so soft and feels great.looks fab with heels and a simple tucked in shirt.

initially got the black, much better on the hips (smaller) than so many of the boden skirts which usually have a "jodhpur thigh" effect. OK it is fairly generous on the waist but i prefer that together with the grossgrain detail. fabric quality is excellent. all in all far better than the velvet pencil skirt from 2 years ago. recently got the amazing gold colour, goes with so many other colours & combinations i wasn't expecting! 10 out of 10 for this one!

Another great pencil skirt.I have two from the summer collection and the gold velvet one is equally superb.I had to return the 12L as it was too big on the waist and hips, for a 10L, and the fit is just right. It skims in all the right places. I wore it with purple opaque tights and a purple top. It looked very festive and glamorous.

Well done Boden. I was uncertain when ordering this skirt because I have been disappointed in recent years with the quality of Boden, but this is a beautiful skirt! Lovely colour (Antique Gold) and the perfect shape for me. I am 5'8" tall, size 12 and pear shape, and despite the measurements given on the website which suggested I needed to order size 14 I decided to order a 12 which was perfect and SO flattering! I shall be wearing this on New Year's Eve now, thank you!

I am so very sad to return this; firstly I ordered a 10l and that was a little too big and too long so I then tried 8r ... this was too short and simply not wide enough around the hem.Fig colour is gorgeous though and everything else about it was perfect so I really had a heavy heart when making a return.
