I've been coveting this dress since I first saw it and wasn't disappointed. Can layer it to guard against the cold weather and the colours and pattern cheer me up on a cold, gloomy day. A bit pricey but expect it will last and look good for years to come. Size and style fitted me well.

[...] Was pleasantly surprised! I am a curvy shape inbetween 14 and 16 so I got size 14 and it fitted great. Needed it in the bust and hips but didn't find an excessive amount of material as some folks did. It more kind of skims my large hips and sits fine. The armholes and shoulders did seem rather small but again as I am slim across there, they fitted fine. The zip was a bit sticky though and not great and for some reason, a pattern had been pressed into the fabric like a button! Hopefully this will come out eventually. I did manage to layer some skinny fitting tees and one I had already with a peter pan collar gave the dress a whole other look completely. The length of regular was good for my 5 foot frame. In fact the only thing was is that I would like some of the other colourways too but its too expensive!

I wanted to love this dress, and when it arrived the fabric is beautiful. But the fit is very strange. I ordered my usual size 10, and could barely fit through the neck opening, and the armholes were very tight, and the whole bust shaping felt too high up. Yet it remained quite baggy around the waist. I then ordered a size 12 and considered having it altered, but have reluctantly returned it.

The pinafore has a beautiful ccolour pattern navy green and pink.It fitted beautifully on top but brought it to the dressmaker to get the back taken in.It now looks beautiful and slim fitting. That is why I only gave it three stars.

I ordered both the blue and brown check dresses and had high hopes as this is my favourite dress style. However I was so disappointed as the fit was poor. I ordered size 12 as I always do from Boden, however the dress was very large around the middle and particularly snug under the arms. I don't have a large bust and am a slim very regular size 10-12. A size down would be far too tight under the arm and across the top. Sadly I had to return these lovely dresses. I loved the fabric and the quality was excellent.

I tried this dress on in a pop-up Boden shop this weekend - was excited to find it there in my size. But the fit was disastrous on me. I literally struggled to get the dress over my head - the neck opening seemed tiny. Once on, the arm holes were extremely tight over the lightweight teeshirt I tried it on with, so that the teeshirt material bunched up under my arms. The dress itself fitted quite well across the bust but it sort of ballooned out around the waist.
Lovely fabric but everything about the fit was a big no-no for me, unfortunately!

I really wanted to like this dress, from the pictures online and in the catalogue it looked perfect as a winter dress. I got it with a discount offer but even then it was more than I would normally pay.
When it arrived at first glance it looked great I got the green/navy tweed, colours were lovely very rich looking, but then I took it out of the bag. Material was very scratchy and didn't feel great, I have had tweed/tartan items before and some are soft and luxurious making them drape really well.

When I tried it on it was so shapeless, tried with the round neck top under and cardigan over look I looked so frumpy and in the words of my husband boxy. So it wasn't a hard decision it all went back except the favourite cardigan which was really nice.
In the words of other reviewers Boden need to look at their prices and quality, have to agree that one is going up and the other down.

I ordered this in the 'brown' size 12.

The dress was slightly too big, (earlier this year I was finding some Boden things too tight and I haven't put on/lost weight).

It was also very scratchy - I know it's tweed, but I didn't even really want to touch it, much less put it on.

Once on it was shapeless and too big. I could have fitted a top underneath which would have helped with the sizing around the arms. However, there was nothing I could do about the fit around the middle.

I tried it with a belt - high up under the bust, round the waist - belt off again - all equally and horribly unflattering in new and startling ways.

Sorry, Boden, but I can find nothing good to say about this item at all - going back as soon as.

First impressions were good when I received this dress. The fabric is beautiful and the quality excellent.
Sadly for me it was all down hill when I opened it fully. It was immediately apparent it was not fitted as I had expected from looking at the photo and reading the description. It was far too big at the waist and almost seemed A-line. It is not really a true shift dress.Definitely not one for the curvy/hour glass figure.

So disappointed as I really love the fabric and colour.

Gorgeous fabric with bright colours (green/pink check) but the cut was just not right for me. I am a fairly small size 10 but am curvy not straight up/down. Contrary to the picture this is not semi fitted but more of a straight shift. Thinking it was more semi fitted I ordered a size 10 and it has far too much material around the waist.
