I left a comment early on, just after having bought this coat but feel compelled to leave another now that I've worn it a while. Hopefully Boden will take note for next season's boiled wool coats.

As mentioned in my earlier comment, the coat is still lovely BUT after only a few wears, the lining split in several places down the seams. I sent it back and exchanged it for a new one in the vague hope that this one might fare a little better. Not so unfortunately and after only a few wears, the seams are fraying in exactly the same way as previously.

Like some other commenters, I'll be keeping the coat because it's a really nice fit and looks great. Also, as I sew, I can take out the current rubbishy lining and replace it with something decent. Still, this shouldn't be happening on a coat like this and Boden really do need to look into some tighter quality control. As soon as I saw that lining, alarm bells rang as it was so obviously inadequate for the purpose. Someone at Boden should have seen that too.

Having bought last year's boiled wool coat which has been a star and is still going strong, please Boden, get your quality control right for next season.

I love this coat. Following reviews I sized up and was pleased I had done so. The main negative is that after only 8 weeks wear the coat looks ready to be throw away. The lining began coming apart at the seams after only 2 or 3 days of wear and now the coat is being to bobble particularly on the arms. I accept that I bought this at sale price, although almost [$] is not especially cheap for a coat, but it is simply not of the quality I expect from Boden.

Purchased this coat in the sale and am very pleased with what I paid for.

Followed previous reviewers' advice (thank you!) and ordered a size up. I have many Boden jackets and coats from the last few years and this is the first time I have ordered a bigger size than normal. I feel that if I had ordered my usual size it would be too snug and would be difficult to wear a jumper or cardigan underneath.

I am a little worried that this lining won't stand up to much wear and I will probably replace the buttons which look a bit rubbish, to be honest!

Overall I really like it though!

I absolutely love my black Mariners coat. It fits really well and is very warm. Sadly though, after only 1 month the lining is splitting at the seams. Very disappointing. I love the coat so much that I wouldn't want to return it despite the faulty lining.

I really liked the look of this coat on the website. However, I shall be sending it straight back because not only was the general fitting quite unflattering, but the arms were far too short (about 4 inches from my wrist, and I don't have particularly long arms for my height). I was very disappointed.

I love this coat,bought the red one and find it cheerful to wear and people comment on the fit and quality , I also find it warm, But I have only had the coat a month and already the lining is tearing at the seams in a number of places.For this reason only I am disappointed,although I am still reluctant to return a coat love to wear so much.

I like everything about this coat except for the quality of the lining. It is pretty and soft, but quite thin, and after a couple of months of only occasional wear, the lining seams have separated and frayed terribly in four large sections. I would like to keep wearing it, so will need to repair it. If only the lining had been of better quality-I would rather pay a little more and have better quality that lasts!!

I bought it for our next winter as I couldn't resist the sale price. It's an excellent buy- and although it looks casual in the model photo, the black one looks very stylish on and could be quite dressy except for the buttons. These are the only drawback - they look a bit ordinary, but easy to change. It's also very warm (and despite what most Britons think about the Australian climate, the winters in Canberra are cold!) My usual size(10) fits well over the Bella jumper which I also bought. If you want something thicker underneath or if you are at the top end of your size, then I would suggest sizing up.

Tall woman from the Netherlands, 5.9 59 kilos uk size 10, eu 38. I do LOVE boden design, but some how always have problems fitting.I ordered the coat a size bigger due my long arms, but the sleeves where still way to short, not just a tiny bit, but short short short! I do like the coat so much, that I'm risking it and exhange it for size 14, just have to hope and wait....

I had my eye on this jacket for ages and finally snapped one up in the sale. Took the advice of others and bought size 12 instead of my usual 10 - fits perfectly, as if tailor-made. It suits my straight and up down figure, adding a bit of shape, and the colour - a lilac blue - is pretty and cheering. The best endorsement came from my sweet (but grumpy) teenage son who volunteered how nice I looked!
