Bought the blue star in the size 4 for my 3 year old son, his average height and on the slim side, they fit perfectly, the pull string waist is a must for us as most trousers are hanging off of him! the material is quality and i love the colour. :)

I ordered the age 6 in the grey 'pirate' shorts for my taller than average 4 year old and they're not too bad a fit! They're a bit long but I've turned them up an inch and he won't take them off. Should see 2 summers use out of them!

They are faded like others have said but I just think it adds to the charm.

I have bought board shorts for my son for the last 4 years and he is still happy to wear the same style - testament to a great pair of shorts! Wash and wear fantastically. Have bought 2 pairs this year (blue and green star print) but have to say that the waist on the blue pair differs by 2 inches!!

Having already got the blue star and been very pleased, I returned for the green star, my son is very pleased with them (loves anything Boden star) I was interested to see the colour as others have felt these are too faded, for us personally they are fine, I dont feel they are to faded for us, they have a 'couple of times washed' feel, lovely and soft but great quality, good elastication and drawstring, my son is just 11 and average height and slim build, they fit him well with plenty of room, should get 2 summers I feel, but they do not look too big at all, feel this year the fit is back to normal after last years smaller fit of these. Ive also now ordered the red skull as he had those in green last year, these are perfect for holidays. You can also dress them up at night with a cool Boden tee or shirt. Boden, for next year please would you do a red star? :)

Ordered these for my 4 year old. The colour was a lot more faded than expected! That aside, I found that I didnt like the fit. Ordered age 4 and they were quite long in body, but biggest problem I found is that for an age 4 child the waist was not elasticated enough. There is a tie waist, but thought that this would be more trouble than its worth when said little 4 year old needed to go to the toilet on his own!

I also ordered age 10 for one of my other boys in the blue star, which I will say were much better and we kept these!

Lovely vintage feel to these. They fit well and have a drawstring which is just brilliant because my boy's a skinny fella. Really fun and look like they'll last and last, just as all Boden stuff does.

Just bough the green with stars & red with skulls. Lovely trendy shorts :-) Hard to find great styles for boys in the shops. Bored of the denim ones seen everywhere. I bough the size 7 for my 6yr 4 mth old who is average as i didnt want to risk the smaller size being too tight in the waist & they seem to be fine having tried them on. Would have pref them less vintage/faded but i guess that is the look so as long as they dont fade with washing they will be fine. Lovely shorts x

Great pair of shorts. We opted for the red skull version size 4-5yrs for my petite 6 year old. He says they are very comfy, i think they look dead cool on.
Can see these being worn lots over the summer - A great buy - would definately recommend

Fantastic, casual, shorts - my first purchase from Boden has not disappointed. The tie waist means that not only do they fit my average sized 6yr old son but they also look great on his little brother. Im certain they will still fit next year too, so great value. I love the design, which is so refreshingly different from your run-of -the-mill kids' clothes. Cant wait to shop again!

I bought these for my 4.5 yr old after he spotted them on the computer. He loves them so much, they have been washed several times already and still look the same as when they arrived. He grabs them the moment he gets in from school, even when it was still too cold to wear them!!! He rolls around the garden, trampoline, the park and still come up clean. I am now considering another pair and maybe some for my 3 year old too!
