My son has loved his previous Boden gilet, so as he'd outgrown it, we eagerly looked forward to this years version. Initially we ordered up a size as everything so far this season I've purchased in size 7-8 for my tall but skinny 6 year old. This is very roomy, we re-ordered the aged 5-6 which, size wise was more appropriate. It is lovely, well-made and beautifully finished. However, the popper fastenings are nowhere near as practical as the zips of previous years and this feeels less padded. The shape is also rather boxy. Overall, in spite of my son loving it in the packet, he's chosen to send it back and reluctantly I have to agree it's the right choice. It does feel rather "equestrian" which sadly isn't a look that suits him, nor that he was aiming for. I can't fault the item itself, as it is very nice and I do think it would work equally well for girls as well as boys. However, for us it's just not what we were looking for and nothing liike the Boden gilet of previous years.

Bought this for my 18 month old son and it is great. I did purchase multiple sizes as wasn't sure of the fitting, I ended up keeping 2-3 years size, it's a bit long but the size smaller was a very snug fit and wouldn't have lasted 2 minutes. He is a big 18 month old, most people are shocked when I tell them he isn't yet 2 ! He has wore it lots and it is still in good condition, it has survived nursery so I guess it's safe to say it's pretty tough. It's not very padded so not good for cold day's but that's not what I wanted it for as he has a coat for very cold days
